Color is such an important feature in our everyday lives. It effects our moods and behaviors; it has even been shown to effect our blood pressures. It's no secret, however, that color is one of our favorite mediums to use at JBI to liven up an interior space! Naturally, we feel very similar about using color on the exterior - especially on front doors, as they serve as an introduction to the home.Read More

Picking and styling a coffee table can be a tricky matter. Many times, the concept of function over fashion comes in to play. Typically the coffee table is a center piece to many living rooms and can serve many different functions. Whether it be a spot to display some of your favorite decorative books, a place to rest your drinks, or the perfect spot for that delicious cheese board, this important piece of furniture is serving a function. Different lifestyles call for different coffee table use: a coffee table may be refined (and hardly every touched!), a centerpiece in a play zone for kids, or something that can easily change no matter the occasion. Below we have included examples of different coffee tables and various ways they can be styled.
1. A Rustic coffee table is prefect for a central area of the home. We all know that almost all furniture will eventually show signs of wear and tear. However, with a rustic look, a few dents, scrapes, or markings tend to be less noticeable and only add to the pre-existing character of the table.
2. For a house with active kids, a tufted ottoman table is the perfect solution. The soft edges keep younger kids from those sharp corners, while still looking as stylish as any coffee table. Adding a tray with a few items allows you to still accessorize while being able to easily move those items out of the way when needed.
3. A modern acrylic table is perfect for those that love the clean and sleek lines of contemporary furniture. This style is extremely functional and easy to clean (perfect for those cheese boards or hors d'oeuvres). The clear appearance allows the piece to be a statement item while at the same time straying away from a large and bulky look. The clear acrylic material gives the area a more airy and open feel.
4. For those that want to make a bold statement, there's nothing like a marble table with gold accents to really draw the eye in. With designers, such as Jonathan Adler, creating such amazing pieces, there are endless options. Creating a trendy and glamorous living room truly starts with a piece of great furniture, and why not let that be your coffee table.
5. A mid-century modern coffee table is perfect for those wanting to add a little retro feel to their living room. Whether it be having friends over for a drink or just adding some retro flare to your home, a mid-century design is going to give your home the swanky feel you want.

Adding textural elements to a room is something we enjoy doing in clients homes. One of our latest and most favorite items, is using different kinds of hide rugs to add character to a particular space. Hide rugs have been revitalized to fit a multitude of styles and are not just something you see in hunting lodges, ranches, or western inspired homes anymore. Hides have been reintroduced into some of the chicest homes and can add a unique component to any room. They are also great layering pieces, and right now layering hides over a larger seagrass or jute area rug is super trendy. We love the personality and style all the different available hides can give any area and look forward to incorporating more hides into our future projects.
Whether it be delicate hand stitching or beautifully cut applique, we love the personal touch monograms can give to one's own home. With so many endless options and array of colors, monogramming items within the home can be as bold or subtle as you would like. While monograms were originally viewed as something for only elite individuals to display their family name or crest, monogramming personal items has become quite the trend for many. In particular, we truly love the southern charm that Leontine Linens creates; the options are endless and the outcome is seamless. Today, monogramming an item can be as traditional or as modern as you like. Monograms can be made to fit any personal style or home decor. We absolutely love monograms and try to incorporate them into as many projects as we can.

From past to present, Mid-Century Modern design is something that has continued to appear in Interior design all over the world. The interesting clean lines and naturalistic elements always spark an interest when designing a clients home. We love integrating old with new, and we really love the nostalgic feel of mid-century furniture. Bringing simplistic elements to a piece of furniture, as simple as a chair, is something that can really create a statement or draw an entire room together. From TV shows such as Mad Men to hotels throughout the U.S. we are inspired to incorporate Mid Century Modern Decor into many of our projects.
What type of furniture inspires you?
We are feeling inspired by our newest client projects. From navy walls to small subtle items, we feel that there are a myriad of ways to incorporate blues into any home. Whether it be something as bold as a navy wall or as modest as a piece of pottery, the color can bring in many different elements of design. Ranging from traditional to modern homes, hues of blue can be integrated into almost any design scheme. Hues of blue have been present throughout design history and we believe it will remain a classic. With such a wide array of blue hues available, we believe that everyone can find the perfect shade for their home.

There is nothing more exciting then transforming a nursery into a "big kid" room. Creating something that is functional yet stylish is such an exciting project to get to do as a designer. With so many chic and modern products available, we feel that a kids room can be just as stylish as the rest of the house. Keeping in mind that those little ones are constantly on the move and actively playing, we feel that a kids room should have plenty of designated play area as well as a plethora of storage for all the toys.
"Big kid" rooms should be able to grow with the child, while at the same time still feel personalized and creative. Creating a room that can grow with a child is somewhat challenging, but with strategically placed furnishings and decor creating a room that can easily evolve as the child grows is possible. With transitory items, we feel a child can enjoy all the luxuries of being a kid, while still having a polished and refined looking room. Below is inspiration for some of our latest projects.
